A part-time teacher from Bethesda, Maryland...

Amy Fine

Date of First Appearance:
March 1994

Total Winnings:
$72,803 [J! Archive note: this does not include Amy's $1,000 ToC prize]

Records held:
I believe that I am the highest female money winner for 5 regular season games played before the point totals were doubled and even after adjusting for that change.

Favorite anecdote:
Game 4, I was losing going into Final Jeopardy! against a very strong opponent with a lot of money at stake (we each had over $9,000). I knew the answer to an extremely difficult question (In 1925, Henry Ford purchased this old Massachusetts tavern and converted a portion of it into a Longfellow museum. What is the Wayside Inn?) by the coincidence of having been to a wedding there several years before. My opponent didn't know the answer and my win gave me the opportunity to play a 5th game. Also, my 5th victory came by way of a generous opponent who played for the tie instead of the win. He could have beaten me by $1.

Effect on my life:
I was recognized regularly for quite a number of months afterward and even now, more than 10 years later, friends and acquaintances find excuses to bring it up when introducing me to new people.
