What happened when you found out you were going to be a contestant?
Well, of course I was extremely excited. I kind of did the whole jumping-up-and-down deal. My parents were really excited too. I went out and told all my teachers and friends and so forth, which was kind of interesting because all of a sudden all of my friends and random vague acquaintances suddenly wanted to be my best friend in the whole world once they found out how much money I was--might win and I was going to be on Jeopardy!
If you could invent a perfect Jeopardy! category, what would it be?
It would probably be MILITARY HISTORY CONCERNING THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR. Strictly the military history without any of the political interference and postwar ramifications.
What are your plans for college?
I'm hoping--perhaps--making it into Harvard. Uh, they're recruiting me for water polo, so hopefully that'll increase my odds a bit, but... I don't know, we'll see what happens. But that's my top choice.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I have a wide range of kind of odd hobbies. Among other things I'm a Civil War re-enactor, but I also enjoy, of course, hanging around with friends, seeing movies and so forth. I love water polo; I'm captain of our team. And, otherwise, I find that most of my time is consumed by school.
How did you prepare for today?
Well, I went to the library and checked out a book entitled Dummies--er, excuse me--Astronomy & Mythology for Dummies, but other than skimming over that, not really. In hindsight I probably should have.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Ten years from now I see myself shuffling papers behind an office desk. Hopefully working in some form of law--I would like to go into corporate law--but I, I have a--I have the impression I'm probably going to be a desk jockey.
What will you do with the money if you win big?
Uh, I would like to invest some of it, and of course save a lot of it for college, but I would also like to take some of it and donate it to families of fallen veterans.
Is there anyone you'd like to say "Hi" to?
Hello Mr. Anderson and all of Huntington Beach High School. And especially Mr. Anderson, thank you for giving me the sheet that said "Go to this try-out," otherwise I would never be on the show. |
