(Alex: This clue will be given, ladies and gentlemen, by one of our very special guests on the program. You'll recognize him, I'm sure. He is one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the National Football League. In 1994, he was Rookie Defensive Player of the Year. And this year, he's one of the reasons why, once again, the San Francisco 49ers are expected to have a very good season. Please welcome Bryant Young.)

(Alex: All right, ladies and gentlemen, the Bay Area, as you know, has many marvelous tourist attractions. And two of its most famous and beloved are individuals. You will recognize them, I'm sure. [Before going into the break, Alex introduced an American Red Cross PSA about assembling an earthquake kit.] (Alex: We'll get back to the three of you in just a moment. But before that, I have a question for you folks out there. Following the Loma Prieta earthquake in San Francisco, the Red Cross helped 14,000 families and individuals who were suffering from this tragedy. My question to all of you is, are you prepared for the next earthquake?)

(Alex: Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. You know, since early February, the Red Cross has responded to a series of disasters here in California brought about by El Nino-related storms. The Red Cross is going to spend over $4 million to help families who have been affected, seriously affected, by such terrible things as torrential rains, mudslides, and other kinds of devastation. There are hundreds of volunteers who have been working around the clock to bring relief to these affected families. We here at Jeopardy! want to salute them. We want to express our admiration and our thanks for being involved in this fundraising event. And this could not have come about, ladies and gentlemen, without the hard work and cooperation of one individual. And I'd like you all to recognize him now. He is the general manager of KGO-TV7 ABC here in the Bay Area, Mr. Jim Topping.) [Applause as Mr. Topping stands to be recognized.] (Alex: And now it's time for Double Jeopardy! with these categories...)
