I'm Dana Perino. I was the press secretary to George W. Bush when he was President, and now I'm a commentator on Fox News and I co-host a daily show called The Five.
Could you tell us about your charity?
I'm playing for Pets2Vets, also known as P2V, and this is a charity that helps connect veterans--military veterans that have PTSD--with rescue animals, and the match really helps both of them in their lives and to heal and moving forward.
What impact would $50,000 have on your charity?
This charity has very much been done in people's spare time and on a volunteer basis. They haven't had a lot of money to be able to help make the matches, and to let veterans know--and rescue shelters know--that this is possible, to bring veterans and rescue dogs--and cats, but mostly dogs--together. Um, so a $50,000 will go a long way to helping pay for the adoption process, and the shots, and a one month's food supply for the vets, so that they can help take care of their dog in the--in that first month.
Does your experience in the White House give you an advantage?
I am hoping that, uh, having to be quick-witted and on my feet, uh, at the White House podium is going to help me today. I know, uh, my for--my, uh, successor Robert Gibbs, uh, knocked it out of the park, so I'm hoping that I can follow in his footsteps and do a good job.
Which competitor is the bigger threat?
Well, certainly my tallest threat is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Uh, I'm 5' tall, he's 7'2", so I wore five-inch heels to try to even it out. |
