A senior from Grand Prairie, Louisiana...

Catherine Briley

What's your favorite subject in school?
I favorite subject has to be probably history, just because I have a really great teacher all throughout high school. Her name is Miss Julia.

Do you think that will help you on today's show?
Hopefully! That's what you want to hear, is that, uh, your favorite subject's going to be a category on Jeopardy!

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years, probably going to school for med school, um... yeah, that's about it. School's going to be a long process for me.

What will you do with your winnings?
Hopefully, uh, if I win, I'm going to try and buy a ticket to the national championship game next year in Miami, watch LSU get some redemption.

Tune in to see who makes the grade and who gets schooled!

How does it feel to be a finalist?
It's ama--I mean, I'm beyond words right now. It's just elation right--I--it's--wow. It was such a tight game the whole time that just to have come out of that having won knowing I'm gonna be in the finals later on this week is--it's crazy.

What's been the best part of this experience?
I mean, touring yesterday in Washington with all the other contestants was just incredible. Um, we're all really good friends, and then we got to go inside the White House, and we did an amazing tour with the curator there, and that was probably the highlight of the trip for me.

Did you notice a change in intensity in this round?
I didn't really notice anything until the game actually began, and it was just like, this is do or die--you have to--if you don't win then you're not going to move on. So, definitely a tad more intense, yes, sir.

Did the "win or go home" format affect your strategy?
To say I had a strategy would be giving me way too much credit Mr. Timmy. Uh, I just did my best to answer the questions and buzz quickly.

Any plans for your winnings if you become the champion?
I'm going to the BCS national championship game next year in Miami. Or else, I'm going to try really hard to, hoping LSU gets in there and gets some redemption.

What would being the champion mean to you?
I--I--oh, my gosh. Being champion would just be... it'd mean so much for my future. It'd help me for college, med school--because I want to be a doctor. Um, and then, just knowing that I came and I was on the show, and I succeeded... you know, it's just, almost like a confidence boost, you know what I mean? Uh, just being on TV, and... I mean, look at this, it's amazing.
