What's your favorite subject in school?
Uh, my favorite school subject is probably computer science. Um, I'm in AP Computer Science this year and I really enjoy it.
If Alex Trebek were a teacher at your school, what subject would he teach?
Aha... I think it might teach speech & debate. That's a class at my school. Just because he's so used to oration, I guess.
What are your post-Jeopardy! plans?
Um, well, immediately post-Jeopardy! I'm gonna go back home to Louisville. I'm a junior, so I have--I have science fair coming up, I have lots of academic tournaments coming up. Um... and... I'm gonna... next year I'll be starting the college application process, so... that'll be interesting.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Um, ten years from now, I'll probably be in graduate school. Um, I don't know exactly what field I'm planning on going into, but I'm interested in neuroscience, I'm interested in psychology, so those are potential things that I could be doing ten years from now.

How does it feel to be a semifinalist in the Jeopardy! Teen Tournament!?
I cannot believe that this is happening to me. So, I'm just--I'm really, really shocked, but I'm ecstatic.
Do you have any shout-outs to friends and family back home?
I want to give a shout-out to these people back home: um, hi, Lydia, I'm wearing your earrings. Um, and hi to my brother who's in New Haven. Hi, Ben. Um, and hello to everyone--all my friends--everyone back home in Louisville.
Tell us about your strategy today.
I didn't have as well-formed a strategy as I would like to say I did. Um, I had a plan on wagering if it was a category that I was confident on, but I was not all all confident in this category, so I decided that I wanted to break $20,000, so that was what I did. Um, I don't know. My strategy was not very firmly in place.
Do you have anyone you'd like to thank?
I would--definitely--I would like to thank my parents, um, for their support, and I would like to thank my quiz bowl team, because I feel like without my quiz bowl background, I would not have done nearly as well. Um, yeah... |
