A fourth grade language arts, math, and social studies teacher from Washington, D.C....

Catherine Carson

Students: "Good luck Miss Carson! Go Saints!"

My name is Catherine Carson, and I'm a fourth grade teacher in Alexandria, Virginia at the St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School.

What made you choose teaching as a career?
Uh, my mom's a teacher, and, uh, she's always inspired me, and I love learning new things, so any time I can kind of give someone else the same excitement, I jump at the opportunity.

How did your students react when they found out you made it on Jeopardy!?
Uh, when my students found out I was gonna be on Jeopardy!, they went ballistic. Um, absolutely bananas, and their energy and excitement has kept me going, um, throughout the process.

Did your students help you prepare for the show?
Um, not really, uh, they're fourth grade, so they did their best, um, but kind of phrasing responses in the form of a question was something that was a little tough for them.

Any messages for your students?
Um, be good, and, um, have a great time, just watching and learning and try to absorb as much as you can.

Tune in! You might learn a thing or two!

"She is new to teaching--she's in her second year. From Washington, D.C., say hello to..."
