A financial manager from St. Louis, Missouri...

Carl Bradshaw

Hey, St. Louis, this is Carl Bradshaw. See if I can show you how to become a champion on Jeopardy!

[2011-03-03 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
Becoming Jeopardy! champion it--it's just--it's absolutely fantastic. I mean, only so many people can say that they are a Jeopardy! champion, and, uh, I get to have something that can never be taken away from me for the rest of my life, and that's really, really cool.

Do you have any advice for future Jeopardy! contestants?
For those of you who were curious why you were sitting in school, what could ever come out of it, hey, you could be standing up here and have a little extra money in your pocket because of it.

Any messages to the folks back home?
Yeah, I would like to thank my parents, obviously, uh, for first--they--they really got me interested in trivia, and some--y'know, and knowledge to begin with, and, y'know, the little-known facts. Um, I also wanna thank, uh, some friends of mine that I play trivia with every, y'know, Wednesday night, and some other nights as well to kinda help me, uh, prepare for this, and including some of those who came over and right before I left town and helped me out, and I--I appreciate it. Thanks a lot, guys. [Edit] Uh, I'll play Jeopardy! at home with my wife. Hello, honey, thanks for all your help and support as well. I love you.

How does it feel to win your second game?
Why, I'd rather be lucky than good, and I think it paid off to be a two-time Jeopardy! champion without even gettin' the Final Jeopardy! question right yet. Um, those, y'know, weren't necessarily my categories, I felt, but, I'm still standing, so I guess that's all that matters at the end of the day.

How did you prepare for your appearance on Jeopardy!?
Uh, I think a lot of the preparation was just, honestly, just exposure to life, and then some of it I'm seriously straight-up studied, y'know, and, uh... and playing with, uh, my friends at, uh, Buffalo Wild Wings in Creve Coeur, playing the online trivia, and just, y'know, and a lot of Q&A stuff.

How did you feel about your competition today?
They're all--they've all been fantastic. We were talking with Alex right now that honestly, every game, and I say this for both games, one in three shot of winning, all three of 'em. Uh, y'know, pull 'em all back up here again, and chances are that one of them would work out--walk out here the winner versus me. So, I just got lucky.

Season 27 2-time champion: $17,899 + $2,000.
