Hi Chicago, I'm Kate Rowland, a family doctor from Hyde Park. Exercise, eat right, and watch me on Jeopardy!
[2011-02-11 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
It's a--it's a thrill. Y'know, this is, uh, this is the culmination of years and years of, uh, useless knowledge, [laughs] and reading books and magazines and newspapers, so it's, uh, it's great to use all that knowledge for somethin'.
Did you guess during Final Jeopardy!?
Okay, so, uh, when the Final Jeopardy! category came up, I decided was gonna wager to win, even though, um, film is not my forte, and 1930s film is certainly not my forte. Uh, and I, uh, I was thrilled, um, to have--to come up with a-a 1930s movie I could name, and it happened to be The Wizard of Oz--I got lucky.
Any messages to the folks back home?
No, that's fine. My, um, I'm--I'd love to thank my husband, uh, who is taking care of our three beautiful children so that I could come here with my mother. Uh, my kids, Anna, Julia, and John, baby John, um, who was born at home three months ago. Uh, so I appreciate Joe taking care of them, um, while I'm here. And then my mom, who watched Jeopardy! every day at 3:30, um, for the last 27 years. |
