Hey Balmer, I'm Lisa Dvorak from Millersville. Watch me on Jeopardy!, hon!
[2011-01-27 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
Um, I still can't believe it's true. [Chuckles] Um, I kept saying that they sh--I was gonna keep auditioning until Jeopardy! picked me, and then they did after the second audition, and I--they kind of called my bluff, so... It hasn't really sunk in yet, but, I think everyone'll be happy to--when I get back to work. [Laughs]
Did you get any advice that helped you today on Jeopardy!?
Oh, and my dad, um, advised me, for Final Jeopardy!, if you're in the lead, just bet double what your next person has, plus one, so that's what I did, but it was a can--it was a bit of a gamble because I wasn't real sure about the category, so luckily I got it--I didn't feel like a total fool. [Laughs]
Any messages to the folks back home?
Oh, um, my niece and nephew Andrew and Em--well, my niece Emily and my Andrew--my nephew Andrew, um, are six, they're twins, and they both wanted to do something to help me win Jeopardy!, so Emily made me a good-luck bracelet, and Andrew helped by giving me some information--last-minute information that I might need for the show, um, such as, "How old do you have to be to still be a teenager?", which is 19, yeah, so... They're very sweet. Yeah--I'm crazy about those kids. [Laughs] |
