How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
Uh, it is absolutely amazing to be a Jeopardy! champion. I always hoped I would be this, but I never knew, uh, I would, and so it feels good to know, I guess.
Tell us about the audition process.
I j--eh--well--I always wanted to be it, so I looked out on the website for when the next test would be. Um, it was my second time taking the online test. And, if you think by any chance that you might be able to do it, just try it, it doesn't hurt. Um, even just in the rehearsals today, I thought I had bombed it, and then going in now and actually playing the game I did really well, so...
Any messages to the folks back home?
I'd like to thank the quiz bowl teams at LSU and UT for getting me prepared and knowing all my general knowledge and working a buzzer--and being calm under pressure. I'd also like to thank my dad for telling me how to bet in the Final Jeopardy! And I'd like to thank my grandmother and my mom for being here and always encouraging me to be interested in education. Uh, my grandmother's a teacher, and she was always helpful with everything, uh, in science and math, especially. |
