Hi, I'm Sandra McClellan from Fun Central in Arlington. Watch me have fun on Jeopardy!
[2010-12-10 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
Uh, being a Jeopardy! champion means that I can actually do what I've been doing at home for all these years. Uh, I've always wondered if I could actually do it when the--the game came around, if I could beat anyone to the buzzer. Uh, and I was--I did it! [Laughs] [Maggie Speak: "And now I'm a Jeopardy! champ!"] And now I'm the Jeopardy! champ. For one day, anyway. [Laughs]
How did you prepare for your appearance on Jeopardy!?
Uh, I've studied by just going through a world almanac looking for list of things, looking at brief, uh, description of things, uh, the states, different countries, uh, just re--reminding myself of things that I already knew and kind of helping put things in perspective and maybe in chronological order. Uh, it's been a long time since I've had geography classes and things like that, so a lot of that has changed, I had to do a lot of updating on--on world geography. Uh--it--I-I was surprised that I really remembered a lot of things that I-I didn't--I didn't realize I knew.
Any messages to the folks back home?
Uh, well, mainly my husband, who has always been very supportive; my two children, uh, Damon and Heather; and our little three-year-old grandson Vince, who watches Jeopardy! with me every day. Uh, he sings along with the theme song and applauds at the right time, and, uh, he's just been there with me, just practicing, watching me click the ball-point pen, not really understanding what I was doing. |
