Salvete. I'm Emily Jusino from Fredericksburg; see if I can make some history of my own on Jeopardy!
[2010-10-01 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
Um, I'm shaking so bad, but this feels awesome, winning. Oh, my gosh, I never, ever, ever in a million years thought I'd be doing this. Even before Final Jeopardy!, I was like, "There's no way I'm going to win." And, I'm, this, just, I'm... between, like, wanting to jump up and down and wanting to burst through tears, and... And I'm going to stop talking with my hands now. [Giggles] Yeah, and maybe go have a drink and calm down.
Did you guess during Final Jeopardy!?
Well, it said, WORD OR--well, when it came up, it was WORD ORIGINS, I was like, "All right... but maybe they're going to throw something weird, like Chinese or languages I don't do," but... So, I can--I think I can wager a lot, but... And when it came up--is--the question, I was like, I had my answer written before Alex was done reading the question. It was like, "We are all over this one!" And my--my Latin kids are going to be so thrilled, because not only did I have a Latin question at the end, but I got to mention them, they're just gonna be--because--beside themselves--because I was with them when I found out I was going to be on the show. They are just going to be... just so happy, so excited.
Any messages to the folks back home?
Um, I'd like to thank my husband for his never-ending patience with me, and for my parents for instilling a love of trivia in me--um, Martha Wheeler and Armando Jusino. Um, I wouldn't be here if it weren't for those three people. |
