An actor from Desperate Housewives...

Doug Savant

Could you tell us about your charity?
I'm playing for St. Vincent Meals on Wheels. And this is an amazing organization that, uh--run by Sr. Alice Marie--and they serve more than 3,600 meals a day to, uh, homebound seniors, people who are seriously ill, uh, anyone shut-in and in--hungry and in need in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Did you prepare differently for this appearance than the last time?
I have just been, uh, uh, no, I am--I am--I am--as a third-time contestant, I am, uh, less well prepared this time than ever before. So, uh, only--I just wanted to increase the risk.

Are you the Jeopardy! champ in your house?
Yeah, I'm pretty much the Jeopardy! champ. As long as my wife's not around.

What categories are you hoping to see?
I'm--I'm hoping to see categories that have to do with, um, sports, and my family. I feel secure that I can answer either of those. I'd like to stay away from GEOGRAPHY.

What's more important: winning or having fun?
Huh! Hey, I like to have a good time, but, uh, uh, winning isn't, uh, isn't, uh, everything, it's the only thing.

"He met and then married his wife while both were costarring on Melrose Place. Now in his sixth season playing businessman Tom Scavo on Desperate Housewives, here's..."

Playing on behalf of St. Vincent Meals on Wheels.

Doug Savant has just begun his sixth season of ABC's television phenomenon Desperate Housewives, in which he portrays "Tom Scavo" opposite his on-screen wife Felicity Huffman.

Savant is no stranger to "appointment television," having gained his first major success on Melrose Place as "Matt Fielding," one of television's first openly gay characters. Like Housewives, the iconic 1990s series became a national fixation and sparked water cooler conversations week after week.

On the big screen, Savant has starred in films such as Masquerade, opposite Rob Lowe, Hanoi Hilton and Red Surf, opposite George Clooney. Following Melrose, he took on a supporting role in the Dean Devlin/Roland Emmerich mega-production Godzilla, starring Matthew Broderick.

His other television appearances include such hit shows as 24, According to Jim and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He also recently starred in the highly-rated Lifetime movie What Color Is Love.

Savant is married to actress Laura Leighton and they have four children.
