Will you use your Jeopardy! appearance to impress people?
I have used my Jeopardy! appearance to try to impress people. I try to psych them out a little bit before I have to interact with them!
How did you prepare for the show?
I prepared for the show by studying the weakest categories of my knowledge, like "geography" and "people from Wisconsin"!
What's harder: preparing for Jeopardy! or cramming for a mid-term?
Preparing for Jeopardy! is much harder than studying for a mid-term. The mid-term's only about a small area of knowledge, and Jeopardy! is just everything.
Do you have a dream category?
THE IDENTIFICATION OF TREES OF THE EASTERN FORESTS OF NORTH AMERICA?
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I hope to be working for the EPA in Superfund suing polluters to clean up the messes they make.

[After winning her quarterfinal game]
What was the turning point during your game?
I really felt that after single Jeopardy! that I was out of it, and then, in Double Jeopardy! was the POETS & POETRY category, and I went for $400 and got all the way up to $1600 on the Double--Daily Double, and I was really back in the game at that point.
What did you think of your competition?
The competition was great. Obviously, I played against two very skilled, very smart guys, and it really just came down to luck in the Final Jeopardy! category and the Final Jeopardy! answer. [Shrugs] All the games seem to kinda go that way.
How did you determine your Final Jeopardy! wager?
To be honest, I was a little tired of wagering, because we wagered once, and then they came back and--with the score change, because they made a change to accept one of my answers, one that had been rejected, and at that point I was really tired, and I felt like I just wanted to make a statement. I--there wasn't a whole lot I could do, because I was in second, and Dan was still ahead of me, but I was pretty well in front of Jonathan, so... There were--y'know, I was gonna do well if I got it right and they got it wrong, but not so well if I didn't get it right. So there wasn't a whole lot I could do there.
What have been the highlights of your experience?
Honestly, it's just been meeting all the people. It's the contestants and then all the people associated with Jeopardy! To talk to the contestants, who've been really nice. And everybody's just really friendly, and it's a good experience to get to do. Get to meet new people, and Alex Trebek, and all of that.
Congratulations on your victory! |
