Does being a student help you compete on Jeoaprdy!?
Being a student really helps me on Jeopardy! because I'm still in that mode of, I guess, cramming and trying to insert pieces of knowledge in my brain, and, y'know, never knowing what's going to come up on a test or in class, so Jeopardy!'s like a big... test, except on, well, everything.
Does having auditioned for Jeopardy! several times make winning more special?
I auditioned for Jeopardy!... four times before, I believe?--three times for the Teen Tournament, and one time for the regular show--and passed the test all--all the four times that I tried out. Y'know, went through the mock game, y'know, drove long distances from New Hampshire to various cities up and down the East Coast to, uh, to try out. Um, but, y'know, was never picked. Um, but, so, when I was actually picked to be on the show, it made it that much more special, and to actually win kind of validated all the different--all the years that I'd been trying to be on the show...
Have people treated you differently since your appearance?
One of the good things about coming from a small town--Durham, New Hampshire--is that, uh, when I was on the show, was kind of big news for our town, y'know, we've only got about ten thousand people there, so walking around town, I was recognized on Main Street, y'know, in the--in the supermarket, y'know... They'd be, like, "Hey, it's the Jeopardy! guy..." |
