A junior from Fort Lauderdale, Florida...

Tommy Maranges

How did you audition for the show?
I took the online test. We were watching a game--it's sort of a family tradition to play every night--um, and we saw the commercial for the Teen Tournament, and so I went on and I registered during that commercial break. Um, then I went to Nashville, Tennessee and I auditioned there. Um, then I got the call, uh, No--the evening of November 31st. Um, and actually, I wasn't expecting it, because my friend Kristin also auditioned, and she was on the last Teen Tournament, um, and she got her call that morning, like, they notified her in school, and so I'm thinking, "Well, there's no way they're going to put us against each other," and so I was really excited for her, because she's a senior--this would be her last year to audition. So we got the call, and I was--having already accepted the fact that I would have to try again next year, it was great to get that call.

What are you most excited about?
Really just playing, um--I mean, really, it's just surreal for me to be here--it was surreal when I auditioned, it was surreal when I got the call, it's surreal to finally be here. Uh, so I'm excited to just play, and have a good time with it. Um, there are palm trees around, so I'm kind of at home.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
10 years from now, possibly in the seminary. Um, my friend Caroline insists I'm going to start the Roman Collar Comedy Tour. So, uh, in college, or in a seminary, or, uh, ruling the world.

What will you do with your winnings?
Well, a lot of it--you know--a lot of it has to go to college. Um, I'd like to go to Notre Dame, which is a fairly expensive school, but if I can get scholarships, if I can get a lot of that taken care of, um, then, I'd--then I'd love to just--I'd love to travel with it. I'd love to, um--I have a friend who's up in--I have a friend in Alabama, I have a friend in Tennessee, that I don't see very often--I'd love to go to visit them. Um, so--and, um, my parents--I'd like to send my parents, like, to Rome, 'cause they don't get to travel very often, they've got me and my two little sisters, and we all go to private school, so, um, if--if there's anything left over after I'm done traveling, then I'd like to send them somewhere.
