Favorite anecdote associated with being on the show:
Being stopped by strangers in restaurants and shopping malls, requesting autographs. Embarrassing. What would they do with my autograph anyway?
Did being on Jeopardy! have any effect on my life?
Yup. Years later I still haven't lived down the reputation. Some people whom I have not seen in 20 years still stop me to this day and say “I loved you on the show.” Although they also add “You look older!” Indelicate thing to say, yes, but they're right. So do they.
Did I do anything crazy with my winnings?
Not unless you consider paying bills crazy. I sent my daughter to summer camp, took my son to Disneyland, ran away to Puerto Vallarta with my wife, and bought my first computer. Not so wacky, eh?
Anything else viewers would like to know?
I've always been involved with communications--journalism, marketing, advertising, public relations, etc. But as an English major there weren't really that many choices. I've lived in several places, traveled a lot, and worked for at least three of the most hated people in America (no names, please). But my life is peaceful these days, composed of my work, the beach, and cooking, all of which I enjoy very much, and three distinct and quite different families: blood, professional, and fellowship. |
