When did you discover your talent for Jeopardy!?
Well, I found out very early. Like, actually, my grandparents got me very involved. Like, my grandmother. I would, like, watch it with them, at their house, and they would, like, whenever Jeopardy! was on, like, what, something would happen, and I would, like, start answering questions, so whenever I would happen to be at their house it would be like, "Turn on Jeopardy! Turn on Jeopardy! because Bernard's interested!" So... That was really the way I got turned on to it.
How did you prepare for playing Jeopardy!?
Yeah, I've played Jeopardy! online for actually a couple of years. That was the way I signed up for the tournament. I happened to be on, and I was looking for the contestants' page, y'know, I was just looking through some of that stuff, and they were like, "Ooh! We have Teen Jeopardy! try-outs! And I was like, "Oh, there's one in Baltimore, that's about a half-hour away from my house," so I was like, "Yeah, that's great. Let's sign up."
Do you have career plans?
Yeah, actually, I want to--I'm a junior right now, so I'm not look--seriously looking at colleges yet, but I want to go into political science and politics. Possibly go and be into law and Congress and maybe 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. As the president of the United States.
What do you do for fun?
Oh, I love to play sports. Um, I play baseball and golf, and I just love to play sports. I'm very competitive. I'm a diehard Redskin fan. Um, I'm very much into politics. I represent 133,000 students in my county on their board of education, so I'm very much into public service and all that type of stuff. |
