What happened when you found out you were going to be a contestant?
Uh, my parents and my favorite teacher Mr. Luz, uh, both got our local news station KQ2, uh, to come to my 7th hour Western civilization class, and they just surprised me right there in class.
What was your reaction?
Uh, I was rendered speechless. I didn't know what to say. They interviewed me, uh, in the principal's office just moments later, and, it--it was so hard to answer their questions, 'cause, just, just the--I was so awestruck.
How did your classmates react?
Oh, they were--they were all very supportive, and, uh, they were excited for me. Uh, they know that I participate in quiz bowl; it's a pretty small school so everybody seems to know each other. So, uh, everybody was pretty supportive.
Did anyone give you any special advice on playing the game?
Um, most everyone tells me to win. So, uh... that's about it.
Where do you see yourself in ten years?
Uh, I see myself teaching. Um, I'm really not certain as of yet whether I would like to pursue a Ph.D and teach college, or, um, teach high school, um, but I really see myself as a teacher.
What will you do with the money if you win big?
Well, the first ten percent I'm going to tithe on it, and after that it's going to go to my college.
Is there anyone you'd like to say "Hi" to?
I'd like to give a shout out to my youth group, NYC, and to my, uh, Western civ. teacher Mr. Luz, and that's it. |
