Susan coached the Toledo Woodward girls' basketball team to win the Ohio state championship (AAA Division) in 1976, the first year there was a state championship for girls' basketball in Ohio, after Title IX became effective in June 1972. Susan's team went 18-2 that season, beating Struthers, 57-56, in the state semifinals, and Columbus Watterson, 63-59, in the title game.
