On page 33 of the first edition of his book, Jeopardy! writer Harry Eisenberg reported an early-season contestant who was permitted to appear on the show despite the misgivings of the contestant coordinators and ended Double Jeopardy! with -$3,400, which would be -$6,800 when adjusted for doubled dollar values.
