What Station Do You View JEOPARDY! On: ABC
What happened when you found out you were going to be on the show?
I f--When I found out, it was because my mom wouldn't let me answer the phone, just in case it was someone from Jeopardy! I wasn't allowed. Whenever someone got me my mom or my dad, I had to go downstairs, because if--if it was someone from Jeopardy! I couldn't see it, and I had to get dressed as soon as I got up (normally my mom lets me stay in my pajamas for as long as I want), and I kinda found out about that and I was really excited, and I found out--I found "out" about a week later that I was getting on, and I was really excited then, too.
What do you think makes a great Jeopardy! player?
I think the thing that makes a great Jeopardy! player is their ability to have timing, because if you know everything but you don't have good buzzer timing, you're just going to be sitting there waiting for them to miss it, and most of the time they'll get it. So you have to have pretty good timing and know a lot of the things that they ask.
Do you have a favorite Jeopardy! player or anyone you look up to?
I watch Jeopardy! a lot. The people I look up to who have been on Jeopardy! were my dad (he lost to Ken Jennings, but he played a good game against him) and I look up to Jerome Vered (I met him at the Game Show Congress; he did pretty well--he didn't get a spot in any of the rounds in the Ultimate Tournament, so he had to work his way up), and I also look up to Brad Rutter (for beating Ken Jennings).
Did your friends or family give you any advice?
He told me to watch for the lights, 'cause as soon as those go on you have to start buzzing as fast as you can.
What did you do to prepare for today?
He had made buzzers for him when he had to play Jeopardy!--they're not connected to anything, but it's good practice--they're about the size of the Jeopardy! buzzers--and I would wait for the light, because you can tell when the light's on, because they all buzz about the same time, so I practiced along with the TV with the buzzers.
Is there anyone you'd like to say "hi" to?
I'd like to say "hi" to my mom and dad--thanks for supporting me--I'm sorry if I kinda goofed off when I was supposed to be studying geography. And I'd like to say "hi" to Mrs. Hannah, Mrs. Bartok, Mrs. Rossik, and Mr. Louis. Thanks for forcing me to answer all my answers in the form of a question, it really helped.
Where do you see yourself ten years from now?
In ten years I'll see myself probably working on my medical degree or law degree at UCLA--maybe Berkeley (but I like UCLA)--or possibly working on getting a degree so that I could be a CPA. |
