How did you audition for the show?
There was an online test, and my--my grandma, my aunt said, "Hey, why don't you take the test?"--'cause I had--it's the first time online, I think, so I tried it and I did pretty well, and so they called me back to go to Chicago. ... And I tried out and I answered some questions and I signed forms saying that I don't know Alex and that he didn't give me money or anything, and then I drove back.
How did you find out you'd be on Jeopardy!?
I actually didn't get the call. My mom got the call. ... She picked me up from school, and she said, "Aiden, I got a call from someone," and I said, "Oh, really?" And she said, "Yeah, it's from Jeopardy!" But she didn't say if it was a "yes" or "no," and I said, "Okay, well, what did they say?" And then she just--"Mwa-ahh'll tell you later." ... We were driving on the highway and then she said "Aiden, you're on Jeopardy!" And I was jumping up and down, and it's a good thing my seat belt was buckled, or else I would have gone through the ceiling.
What advice did your classmates give?
Well, they're all telling me to tell Alex Trebek rude things, like on Saturday Night Live, y'know, and write things, y'know, I'm not sure if you can say those things on the Internet or not, or on TV or wherever this is going, but, yeah, they're telling me to act impolite and say rude things, and it's somewhat tempting, I must say, but I don't think I'm gonna do it.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In 10 years, I see myself as a very happy person, uh, doing what I love. Probably--I don't know what I love--I haven't really found out yet--but whatever it is, I'm gonna be doing it and I'll be having fun. But in 20 years, I'm gonna be everyone's boss. |
