Amanda Sonmor

Hi Denver, I'm Amanda Sonmor. Watch me buck the competition, on Jeopardy!

[2011-01-21 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
It feels fantastic to win Jeopardy! I almost can't believe that it's happened, it's been a dream for so long, and I'm gonna go party up big tonight. [Laughs]

How did you feel about your competition today?
Yeah, I think that I won because a little demon went and erased the "S" off of my, uh, competitor's screen there. I-I think he probably wrote it down, and something just happened, maybe technical difficulties or something. [Laughs] Demon erased it. [Laughs]

Any messages to the folks back home?
I would really like to say thank you to my husband, Young, for being so supportive; to my parents, Wanda and Al, for being here.

[2011-01-24 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to win your second game?
[Laughs] Being a two-time champion is about six times as exciting. I don't know how that works out, really, but all I can say is I can barely contain myself.

Did you guess during Final Jeopardy!?
When the Final Jeopardy! clue came up, I didn't know the answer right away. I started writing something else and had to scratch it out, and thought of the answer later on. I'm very happy that I was able to come up with the, uh--the correct answer. [Cut] Well, I thought that the answer was "Melville", um, but I only got the first two letters out before I realized to--to correct myself, so I ended up writing "Me" and scratching it out. I didn't know what that looked like until I heard the audience laugh when my answer was revealed. [Laughs]

Tell us about your blog.
Um, I have a blog that I've been writing since I moved to the British Virgin Islands. Um, I am definitely going to write about this experience on my blog. I'll probably talk a lot about the great contestant coordinators, who were super helpful, along with my wonderful, um, competitors. They've been really fantastic--um, in the green room with them, t-talking with them, going over material a little bit, and just having a blast here on the Jeopardy! set.

Season 27 2-time champion: $21,501 + $1,000.
