An English professor and mom from Seattle, Washington...

Liz Maziarz

Hey Seattle, I'm Liz Maziarz. Grab yourself a cup of coffee and see if I can roast the competition on Jeopardy!

[2010-12-09 Winner's Circle interview]
How does it feel to be the new Jeopardy! champion?
It feels absolutely amazing being a Jeopardy! champion. Totally unreal. [Edit, dances] I'm the Jeopardy! champion!

Do you have any advice for future Jeopardy! contestants?
[Sighs] Throughout life, read as much as you can, um, because it brings you knowledge from worlds you would never imagine, and at the end of the day, knowledge is power, and that's a beautiful thing.

Any messages to the folks back home?
I want to thank my family--my, uh, my parents, who helped me study, and my husband, who's at home with our 8-month-old son right now. [Maggie Speak: "What's your son's name?"] My son's name is Darius.

Season 27 1-time champion: $18,400 + $2,000.

Last name pronounced like "MAY-zee-ar".
